This project provides efficient cookstoves and water filters that can reduce a household’s fuel consumption and emissions by over half. Families benefit from less indoor smoke from each meal, and the need to boil water before drinking is entirely eliminated.
These projects help households and communities decrease indoor air pollution, provide clean water, and raise household incomes, all while reducing global emissions. They are often located in the communities least responsible for, yet most impacted by, climate change.
Our projects are concentrated where health and livelihoods are most impacted by climate change, providing sustainable development benefits and climate justice.

Health and livelihoods projects benefit families and communities by providing access to clean energy and water as well as generating new and sustainable income opportunities.

Clean cooking in Guatemala
Clean water in Kenya
This project brings affordable water filters to families and schools in Kenya through community-led microfinance loans, eliminating the need to boil water before drinking. The team also teaches people how to maintain the filters and educates communities on the importance of washing hands, fruits and vegetables.
Micro renewables in India
This project brings reliable solar power and solar water heating systems to replace the use of kerosene or electricity from a national grid reliant on fossil fuels. These off-grid systems can reduce bills by half and provide lighting after the sun goes down, helping businesses to operate and children to study.
All the carbon finance projects we support are independently validated and verified in line with recognized global standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry (ACR) and the Climate Action Reserve (CAR).
As founding members of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), we are closely involved with industry groups to evolve and develop standards and approaches for greater impact.
